Muhd Arief

Muh Arief
Variants On An English Hymm by Philip Sparke (Symphonie III – 7th November 2008)

Arief was first introduced to the euphonium at the tender age of 13, when he joined Yio Chu Kang Symphonic Band – under the baton of Mr Desmond Ng. Thus far, it had been almost 5years since he started his musical journey. And throughout the years in Yio Chu Kang Symphonic Band, he had gained through the various master-classes in improving his playing skills.

Upon graduation from high school, he continues his passion in music-making by joining the Republic Polytechnic Wind Symphony under the baton of Captain Muhammad Yusri. In RP Wind Symphony, he never missed the opportunity to attend master-class with Maestro Timothy Reynish as well as the SIBF Outreach workshop with adjudicator Douglas Bostock. These sessions enabled him to gain more insight in his passion as well as broaden his horizon in music. Besides, he also grabbed the chance to participate in the Junior College & Polytechnic Band Festival 2008. Arief entered the honour band, and was under the baton of Mr. Eric Hammer which further enhanced his experience in music-making.

Apart from that, he also had the opportunity to be under the guidance of Fredi Sonderegger (SSO Associate Principal for trombone) as well as Tan Yao Cong. Through these wonderful tutors, he managed to learn more and explore deeper into his passion of music.
